Goalie Army Academy – Goalie Coach – School Champions

In addition to our goalie school’s goalie training programs at the Minto Skating Centre, Goalie Army Academy’s Lead Goalie Coach, Rick Besharah, works with hockey associations and teams of all ages and calibres to help their goaltenders learn and develop, taking their game to the next level.

Goalie Army Academy - Goalie School Goalie Training Goalie Camp Rick BesharahThis season, one of the teams that Rick Besharah has worked with as the team’s official goalie coach is the Ottawa Senators Major Midget AAA team which includes goaltenders Johnathan Peacock, and Alex Labreche.  Posting an outstanding 26-2 regular season record, the team also boasts the lowest goals against average in the OEMHL AAA.

As the team’s goalie coach, Rick Besharah worked with both goalies regularly during team practices, and obtaining and reviewing video footage with the goaltenders in order to help them to consistently apply the R3E System during their games to aid in their development.

Having broken an OEMHL AAA record this season by accumulating 20 league game wins, Peacock allowed only 29 goals during his 20-game winning streak, resulting in an outstanding goals against average of 1.46.  His unbeaten performance during the regular season earned him his number one goaltender ranking for the 2014-15 regular season at the Major Midget OEMHL AAA level; a well-deserved title.

The other half of the goaltending tandem, Alex Labreche is not to be forgotten.  Entering into AAA hockey for the first time of his playing career, Labreche went on to earn a goals against average of 1.89 in 9 games; a second place GAA ranking to his Ottawa Senators goaltending partner, despite suffering an injury which sidelined him for over a month.

Together Peacock and Labreche are a goaltending force which has helped the Ottawa Senators Major Midget AAA team to attain the 2014-15 regular season championship, the 2014-15 playoff season championship, and they are now headed for the Ontario provincials at the end of March.

Expect to see plenty more of these two goaltenders during the upcoming provincial championship, and next season in junior hockey.

Keep up the hard work and congratulations to you both!
